Today I'm in Las Vegas and at 2pm I'll be speaking at the Affiliate Summit, the world's largest meeting of affiliate marketing and merchant marketers. I'll be talking about. . . well, Landing
Pages.
In doing some research from my talk, I did discover one thing. We "smaller" marketers — and by "small" I mean that we're not Amazon or Payless — we tend to pay closer attention to the money we spend on marketing, the return we get from that. Don't fool yourself into thinking that large companies do a better job of marketing, because they don't.
Want to know who does?
We do.
And we do that because when we're spending money, we're spending OUR OWN money. When big bucks are spent at a big company, chances are it's by some middle manager spending his budget, nothing more.
If he buys clicks that don't turn into sales, well he'll just have to get a bigger budget next quarter. Or fix something soon.
But when YOU and I spend a dollar and get back 75 cents, that's a real problem, and one we have to fix. . . and fast.
With these larger marketers, I'm going back to the basics: continuing the conversation, targeted landing pages, building a list, and stuff like that.
This is stuff that you know already. And are doing already, mostly with great success.
So keep up the good work. And let's do even better.
