If you don't know the 7 Day Secret, you really should.
It can make you a lot of money. And in the next two minutes, you'll know this secret.
One of the principles of direct marketing is "Start where your customer is." I was explaining that to a friend of mine just yesterday, but he had no idea what I meant by that.
No, it wasn't about Geography. Or politics.
It was about State of Mind.
If your sales copy and all of your marketing efforts do not speak directly to your target market, then you are losing sales left and right.
For example, someone who searches for a "Canon Elph S600 price" is in a very different state of mind than someone who is searching for "digital cameras". The woman looking for that S600 has pretty much made up her mind about what kind of camera she is going to buy, and is now shopping for a price and a store she can trust.
So don't send that traffic to your home page where she can view a comparison chart. That's not where your customer IS in the process.
You can send your visitor to the comparison chart when she searches for "digital cameras", though. That'd be more appropriate.
So how does the "7 Day Secret" tie into this?
If your prospect lands on your golf ebook website on a Friday evening, it's likely for a reason. It's likely because he's going to go golfing in the morning and is looking for a way to score better in the morning.
And while he's doing that on a Friday night, he's in a certain State of Mind. He's thinking about Golf. He's also looking to spend some money on golf. And it's VERY likely that he'll be thinking about Golf and looking to spend money next weekend, too, before his next round.
The 7 Day Secret is about this cycle that we all go through, and how to leverage your marketing efforts to benefit most from it.
We are habitual beings.
So if you don't happen to make a sale on his first visit, then stack the deck in your favor for 7 days from now. If your visitor lands on your site on Friday night and he opts into your mailing list but doesn't yet buy, you should absolutely have a strong and direct message for him next Friday.
And the next Friday.
And the Next Friday.
And every Friday thereafter.
Like maybe a coupon of some sort. Or a special bonus. Or a particularly strong sales message.
That isn't to say that days 1 through 6 aren't important — they are! But you know more about this person on the 7th day than you do on any other day.
So use that information to your mutual advantage by making your strongest case on that day.
