The Triumph of the Stupid

Give me a minute before I explain the title “The Triumph of the Stupid”, to talk about TRAFFIC for a second.

You know already that in the survey I ran, 91% of everyone who responded said that Traffic was their first or second MOST IMPORTANT thing they needed to make their online business a success.

So I got to thinking about why that is. Why is getting Internet TRAFFIC such a PROBLEM for you?

And I started thinking about why some OTHER people never have a problem with traffic. Some are famous (Kern, Filsaime, Mandossian) and some are totally unknown. Either way, this group of people KNOWS EXACTLY how to get hordes of people to their site.

But I’ll tell you something shocking. It’s not because they are so SMART.

No, it’s because

Getting Offline Traffic (and maybe even Oprah)

The other day, I wrote you about how bloggers and other website publishers are in constant need for content for their websites.

That’s why you want to write articles — so that they’ll put your content, your name, and your links all over the internet.

Good, yes?

Well, here’s how you can get publicity in the offline world, too.

It turns out that your local newspaper, trade papers, niche websites, the Wall Street Journal, magazines, TV Stations and Radio Stations all NEED CONTENT too.

Here’s how to give it to them.

The SECOND reason to use Adwords

Read this Adwords advice even if you do not use Adwords or have no intention to.

Because even people who are already using Adwords aren’t aware of something it can do for them. It’s one of Adwords’ best features — but you won’t even find it in the documentation.

But before we get into this too deep, though, let me ask you a question.

Would you pay an expert in your field a few dollars to tell you EXACTLY what your customers wanted? What would it be worth to you if you KNEW, with absolute certainty, that the buyers of your …let’s use Widgets as an example … that the buyers of your Widgets were more interested in quality and reliability as opposed to price?

Or price rather than quality and reliability?

Would it be valuable for you to know that — by an overwhelming majority — buyers wanted plastic widgets rather than the old fashioned metal widgets?

You see, one of the things that Adwords can do for you — and this is very powerful and important — is to tell you

Traffic Pain Relief: Would a Map Help?

Over the last week, we’ve been talking about Traffic, and just the other day I asked about your frustrations about getting that traffic, and learning how to get that traffic.

Dan Goodwin says he doesn’t know who to trust.

Alex Newell says

“It’s not just that there is a mountain of information it is not knowing which parts,of it are important and what to do first.”

Phil Churleington says

“We have a dozen or more people emailing us with different solutions. They may be GREAT solutions…but…What’s the FIRST THING? And then, what’s NEXT? There’s no one (trustworthy) to help us.”

And Margaret says

“I agree with the others – I have read so much info that I feel like my brain is on overload.”

Most of the comments seem to echo these, and include several very distressing stories about people spending $30k or more on an education that they don’t feel they’ve received yet (based on their results).

The truth of the matter is that

Getting Closer to a Traffic Solution

Let’s keep talking about traffic, because I think we’re getting closer to a solution.

And I’ve got an important question for you at the end, so please read all the way through and leave your thoughts.

First, an update: I’ve been evaluating some software that might help organize things for you — so you can list your site so people in your industry, or serving the same people, can find you. Of course, the whole system will work better if you can send traffic to someone else, too.

(What comes around goes around, you know.)

But, as David mentioned on my blog, not everyone has enough traffic to give away.

“Nice thought Mark but the fact is that people who only get 1 or 2 or maybe 7 unique visitors a day are reluctant to send them away.”

I’ve got two responses to that. The first response is
